Meet Hodgson’s Debbie Creel

Debbie Creel’s 40+ year journey at Hodgson Concrete reflects loyalty, adaptability, and dedication. She’s seen the company evolve, but one thing has not changed: her commitment to keeping operations running smoothly.

For more than four decades, Debbie has been a cornerstone of the Hodgson Concrete family. She began her journey in an administrative role focused on accounts receivable, but her responsibilities quickly expanded as the company evolved.

“I was hired as a young AR clerk, and back then, most things were done manually,” Debbie recalls. Over time, as the business adopted more modern computerized systems, Debbie adapted seamlessly, taking on more responsibilities and ensuring that both internal and external processes ran smoothly.

Her adaptability, developed through decades of industry changes, is reflected in her ability to take on increasing responsibilities.

Matt Mobley, General Manager at Hodgson Concrete, recognizes Debbie’s ability to do this with ease: “Debbie has taken on the responsibility of three people and she does it all on her own. She’s a vital part of the team and keeps everything running smoothly.”

Fostering a Family Atmosphere

One of the most significant reasons for Debbie’s long tenure is the family atmosphere at Hodgson Concrete. “I’ve worked with wonderful people who’ve always treated me like family,” she shares. The sense of loyalty and support from both colleagues and management has kept Debbie motivated throughout the years. Even as ownership passed from one generation to the next, that family feeling remained intact.

“I’ve always felt like the company has had my back,” Debbie says, reflecting on the Hodgson work ethic. Her strong connection with other long-time employees has made Hodgson Concrete more than just a workplace; it’s a second home.

Over the years, Debbie has experienced substantial growth, not only professionally but also personally. “When I first started, I was scared of making mistakes,” she admits. But now, Debbie confidently handles customer relationships, ensuring that they feel valued and cared for. “I always want to treat customers the way I’d want to be treated.”

Family and Future

Debbie’s dedication to family extends beyond the workplace. Her husband of 47 years, her two sons, and her grandchildren are her greatest joys. Although she recently faced the heartbreak of losing her younger son, Debbie draws strength from her faith, family, and the support she’s received from her Hodgson Concrete colleagues.

“Family means everything to me,” she says, reflecting on the balance she’s cultivated between work and home. Whether it’s working in her garden or watching her grandchildren grow up, her love for family continues to be a source of inspiration.

As Debbie looks ahead, she contemplates the possibility of retirement but still finds fulfillment in her work. “I’ve always joked that I’d be fired or die first before retiring, but I do hope to retire one day and spend more time in my garden,” she says with a laugh. For now, her focus remains on doing her job well and continuing to contribute to Hodgson Concrete’s success.
