2024 ‘Habitat for Humanity’ Blitz
Kirkpatrick Central provided over 500 cubic yards of concrete for a series of seven new homes that were built in a week-long blitz for Habitat for Humanity Greater Birmingham. The material, batched from the nearby Lakeshore plant, was used to construct home slabs, driveways, and curbing in the Hopewell Community near Bessemer, Alabama.
Three weeks before the building campaign, 12 home slabs were placed in a single day. “Kirkpatrick had the trucks here and we never had a break in service,” says John Dekoning, owner of PKS Pumping. “That was a very aggressive pour schedule and we made it in about six hours.”
At the conclusion of the blitz, Kirkpatrick’s cook team was on hand to cook lunch for weary volunteers and participants.
Kirkpatrick Concrete’s Central Division cook team fired up the mobile fryers to provide lunch for about 150 participants in Habitat for Humanity’s 2024 Home Build Blitz, cooking up fish, chicken, and fries.
